Welcome to Laserchrom

Laserchrom is a specialist HPLC Company, based in the UK, first established in 1987.

It was started and is owned by Dr Stuart Jones. He studied Chemistry at The City University London, and went on to do a PhD under Prof Stephen Davidson on the Photoyellowing of Wool. This included a lot of HPLC, primarily of amino acids. Stuart then went on to work for Whatman Ltd in Maidstone from 1984-1986, before starting Laserchrom in 1987. Stuart is an active member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and sits on the Kent Section Committee. He is also a member of the Science Advisory Committee for the University of Greenwich.

Laserchrom's offices and laboratories are located alongside the River Medway in Laser Quay, Medway City Estate, immediately nextdoor to Sunderland Quay where the Sunderland Flying Boats were built during the Second World War. We have an excellent view over the historic castle and cathedral in Rochester, and we are also located within a mile of the Medway Tunnel, and the Univeresity of Greenwich.

Our expertise is totally in HPLC, and we have done little else for the last 25 years. During this time we have accumulated a wealth of experience of HPLC separations, with applications ranging from the petrochemical industry, pharmaceuticals, food analysis, chemical pathology, surfactants, and many others.

We offer solutions to customers with problems which can be solved with HPLC. This can include ensuring that the spec of HPLC equipment you buy is sufficient for your expected anlytical needs, setting up methods, running trial analysis, preparing low-cost secondhand options to allow an analytical problem to be solved before the budget is available, etc. We use Drylab HPLC Method Development software to allow us to optimise methods much faster and more completely than could be done otherwise, and offer this as a service.

Each month we send out a newsletter to about 4500 people in the UK's HPLC community. This can also be sent to those from overseas on request. This includes any useful information, such as ways to deal with the acetonitrile shortage, and special offers which are currently available, and also includes new Technical Notes which we release from time to time. If you do not already receive this and would like to, please contact us at sales@laserchrom.com.

If you have a problem and think it could be solved with HPLC, you are welcome, (even invited!) to give us a call on 01634 294001, and we will be pleased to advise if we can help. We are always pleased to hear from you.
